Pontone Gallery invites you to the private view of Hwang Seontae’s Sanctuary, an exhibition featuring new works by the South Korean lightbox artist.

Taking place on Thursday, 16 October, 6 - 8 pm, the reception coincides with London’s Frieze Week, the city’s leading celebration of contemporary art.

Seontae constructs his pieces with a graphically attuned sensibility, like an architect’s animated blueprint. The buildings are painstakingly mapped out in accurate perspective.

The quality of light is tonally graded in etched glass and the whole schematic plan strategically backlit to create the illusion of pictorial space, where coloured exterior and monochromatic interior are dramatically contrasted.
