“THE MESSAGE” is a new site-specific installation by the celebrated contemporary artist KAWS.

The work consists of two wooden figures over six metres tall, establishing a striking dialogue with the Renaissance architecture and the concurrent exhibition dedicated to Fra Angelico (on view until 25 January 2026). Reinterpreting the theme of the Annunciation-one of the friar painter’s most renowned subjects

-KAWS stages a contemporary encounter through his iconic characters COMPANION and BFF, shown interacting with their mobile phones. Their pose recalls the traditional iconography of Mary and the Archangel Gabriel facing one another in a dialogue suspended between the human and the divine.

“KAWS: THE MESSAGE” is on public display in the Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence until 25 January 2026.
